Tyndall Sports Week 2018
On the week beginning Monday the 24th of September an action-packed Tyndall College Sports Week got under way. First up was a very entertaining basketball tournament that took place in the I.T Carlow for students from Second to Sixth Year. Heart rates increased and a huge show of competitive spirit was on show for all to behold! Edson Chaves and Eddie Carva were awarded well- deserved MVPs. Students also enjoyed an afternoon of Hip-Hop dancing with Ms Kinchella.
Table Tennis Tuesday also took place in the IT. Carlow and over 100 First Years got to experience a fun morning of table tennis.
Wednesday brought a battle for the Kings of the Soccer Pitch with over 60 students from First Year to TY being involved in a soccer tournament. Team Belgium were eventually crowned champions with Niki Judin, Jakie Ngobeni, Conor Mcfadden, Alvaro Narvaez Lopez, Shane Kelly and Paul Ainkola taking home the bragging rights.
Handball Thursday had over 30 participants and saw Myles Doran crowned king of the handball yard for the second year in a row. On the Thursday afternoon all students from First to Sixth Year took part in a fun 5km run/walk. First home was Shane Kelly, followed closely by Christian Germaine and Patrick Carty.
Congratulations to Mateusz Niklewicz who won the Sports Board competition with the most motivating sports quote: “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed”.
The Sports Department would like to thank everybody for their help and contribution in organising a hugely enjoyable week for all participants.
