Tyndall Does Dragon’s Den!

The Art room transformed into Dragons Den this week with a Dragons Den themed design challenge. Second year Art students were given the task by Ms.Bolger to design a new drinks product to launch on the market.

Each student had to make decisions on the type of drinks product, what it would look like, the logo design and decide who their target market was.

Linking in with Business Studies each student then had to pitch their unique idea to the surprise Dragons – Ms.Morrisey and TY Student Erin Lennon.

From a drink especially made for musicians called ‘OH honey’ by Sophie Broderick to a product we would all love, five flavours in one can called ‘Multi’ by Danny Kehoe, there was a wide range of ideas and products to choose from. Some students made prototypes of their products and the Dragons also quizzed them on their price points and where they planned on selling the product.

After much deliberation the Dragons finally picked their runner up Guilia Martinez Perugini and their winner Richie O’ Reilly.  Richie designed two luxury bottled drinks with his own brand name ‘Richie’s’ –  one to help relax you and the other to energise you. He did not let the Dragons phase him in his pitch and was a well-deserved winner. Definitely some future designers and business people in Tyndall College! Well done to all involved.
