Tyndall College Arts Week 2019

Tyndall College embraced the arts recently with a jam-packed schedule for Arts Week 2019. The week commenced with a visit by Senior students to the GB Shaw Theatre for a wonderful performance of Shakespeare.  TY, Fifth and Sixth Year students also enjoyed a trip to the cinema later in the week to see the multi award-winning film Bohemian Rhapsody.

First Year students were delighted with their first visit to the VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Arts.  They got a behind the scenes tour of the upcoming exhibition of paintings by renowned artist Stephen Mc Kenna before its official opening to the public on the 7th February. For many of the students it was their first time entering this amazing space and most certainly won’t be their last!

During the week staff and students also took part in a whole school collaborative art project where they were asked to draw a self-portrait. Prizes were given to most recognisable portraits which were put on display in the school.

Junior students were also treated to a very special lunchtime concert in the Music Room on Tuesday, when 8 different acts put on performances including singing, guitar, saxophone, clarinet and drumming.

The week was wrapped up with a surprise (and ferocious!) performance of the Haka by Second Year students for First Years during Assembly!

Huge congratulations to all involved in this fantastic week. We are looking forward to next year already!
