Second Year Italian Trip to Dublin
On Monday the 18th of November 2019 Ms. Rappoccio and Ms. Phelan, our two Italian teachers, brought us to the Istituto di Cultura Italiana on Fitzwilliam Square in Dublin. Our trip was to learn about the culture and food because it was Italian cuisine week. When we arrived Chef Giuseppe had lots of ingredients laid out and taught us how to make tagliatelle, tortellini, spaghetti and gnocchi, which are all different types of pasta. Everyone had the opportunity to try making the pasta shapes and some of us discovered new talents!
We also watched a funny movie that taught us about how Italian people often use gestures instead of words and it focused on Sicily, where the people use a lot more of these gestures than in other parts of Italy. We finished up our trip with a lovely walk to St. Stephen’s Green where we ate our lunch before travelling home to Carlow on the bus again. It was a very enjoyable and interesting day and we look forward to our next Italian trip!
