JUNIOR SOCCER TEAM GET OFF TO A WINNING START
On Monday 22nd January, the Tyndall College Junior soccer team began their Kilkenny-Carlow league with a great away win against Kilkenny Vocational school.
In dreadful weather conditions, the Tyndall students showed great spirit and pride in their jersey.
Brandon Doyle narrowly missed an early opportunity after great build-up play by Ricky Brennan and Nikita Judin. This was quickly followed up by a great save from the home keeper after great work from Edson Chaves. Kilkenny Vocational side pressed hard in the second quarter but always found stiff resistance from the away defence, capably lead by Bobby Cope and young Thato Rammusi, while on the right William Emanuel was never found wanting. Both teams couldn’t find the net in the first half though Tyndall shaded the better opportunities.
The second half continued in the same fashion with Tyndall pressing and creating the better chances. Brandon Doyle was menacing down the left and was unlucky to hit the side net after he was put through from a glorious pass from man of the match Laisvydos Zilericius. Bonni Milinyango was superb in his defensive-midfield role and he linked up with Zilericius who played an outstanding defence-splitting pass to Doyle who made no mistake to calmly slot pass a helpless home keeper. There wasn’t time for the Kilkenny boys to work themselves back into the game and Tyndall College held on to start their campaign with full points. Well done to all.
