Basketball Teams Win 3 of 3!

On Wednesday 25th September the Tyndall College u19 ‘Grizzlies’, u19 B and u16 basketball teams all beat well drilled Comeragh College sides. This was the opening game of the 2019 -2020 season.  

The Grizzlies were the first team to step out in the school’s state-of-the-art sports facility. Lead by captain Eddie Carvelho they had a 9 point lead at half time. Comeragh couldn’t break through a tight defence in the second half and Tyndall pulled away with a convincing 36 – 16 win. Credit to Comeragh College who did not give up and congratulations to MVP and top scorer Boni Milinganyo. 

The u16’s took to the court next led by captain Shad Simpson in a tightly contested physical game. At half time the u16’s were leading 18 -9. Newcomer and MVP Miguel Ayllon was a very welcome addition scoring 14 points for Tyndall College. The Tipperary side kept baskets coming, however could not get in front of the Tyndall side. Tyndall were leading by 5 points going into the final quarter. Not only did Tyndall start strong they also finished strong. Final score 30 -19.   

The u19 B team were up last captained by Jack Coe. They were the underdogs and trailed by 2 points in the tightest match of them all. MVP Orlando Lazar made sure his team were not left behind sinking 3 baskets and winning the game for Tyndall College 22 – 19. Thank you to the Comeragh College sides for making the trip to Carlow.
