Active Week 2019

Active Week took place in Tyndall College between Monday 23rd and Friday 27th September. The school runs different themes each week for the year and Active Week kick-started the school year in style! The main aim was to get students and teachers actively involved in promoting sports and bringing activity into their classroom and beyond.

During Active Week a competition was run first thing every morning to find Tyndall’s fittest student, as well as a Junior Basketball and Unihoc Tournament. Gavin Buggy, the Irish Handball Champion, kindly gave his time and spoke to students as well as a facilitating a handball Clinic and a tournament. There were lots of soccer and badminton tournaments also, which allowed students to choose from the wide range of sports that the school has to offer.

One of the days was finished off with a basketball tournament and teachers were on the look out for new talent to find fresh blood for their already very successful basketball teams. Rugby training, gymnastics classes and dance was also offered after school.

Students undertook CBAs in PE in September, all under the theme of keeping active, healthy and fit, so Active Week really brought the classroom theory to life. Active Week 2019 finished off with a sports quiz, which students thoroughly enjoyed. Well done to all staff and students who contributed to the success of this hugely enjoyable week.
